Academics

All students take a series of "main lesson blocks" — month-long intensive courses that are taught in double academic periods. These main lesson courses explore the most interesting and essential topics in the sciences, math, history, history of the arts, and literature. Each subject is developed over the course of four years, so that students can gain an ever deeper understanding of the subjects. In each of the main lesson blocks, students create a portfolio of academic and artistic work that expresses their experience of the subject.

Students also take year-long and trimester courses in English, math, world languages, the sciences, and the social sciences, These courses allow students to hone their academic skills and to pursue their academic interests more fully.
